“It’s like ‘Harry Potter’ plus romance plus good-looking people.” XP

Read the article. Yes. That is what the Kool Aid drinking teenage fans are like. Of the "new Harry Potter." I'm not usually one to knock fandoms, but... come on. Almost every thing I see from the Twilight fandom is EXACTLY like the comments above. At least with Pokemon, I mock some of the more outrageous elements of the fandom on a regular basis. As do most other fans I know of.

And my reaction to this story:

Yarg. Twilight. If you haven't read it... horrible book. Horrible series. Not as good as all the emo/goth kids tell you. Just trust me on this. (And I'm sick of everyone comparing it to Harry Potter, btw. Harry Potter was, you know, enjoyable.)

Find yourself a Libba Bray book if you want a good Goth romance, they're actually EXCITING. Really. Just... yeah.

I thought I was the only one who felt that Twilight is way over-hyped by the media, and the media-fed-teens. The whole "It's the new Harry Potter" thing is pretty insulting, the Harry Potter series has a thousand times the depth that Twilight has. I think some folks believe that if they keep hailing Twilight as the new Harry Potter that eventually it will become true.

I really hope this movie bombs, just so people can stop trying to force-feed it to fantasy fans as the next Harry Potter, like people can't honestly tell that the books (and soon movie) are pretty much utter tripe.

{Disclaimer: The opinions expressed are solely my own, and are not meant to be offensive to any fans of the Twilight series}

Your picture makes me wonder, are there any actual screens of Giovanni doing a facepalm? If not, there totally needs to be one.

You're not, Kuroshi (is it okay if I call you that now?) It's only because some of the kids who read Harry Potter are emo kids now and they love their emo books. And I don't think there's any Twilight fans reading this now, you're safe.

That IS an actual screenshot, by the way. It's from a boss fantasy. The Ludicolo one, I think.

He or she knows that, what he or she means is that that picture made them wonder if there's a facepalming anime Boss pic anywhere and if not, there needs to be one.

I always thought THAT was a facepalming anime Boss pic myself.

Technicalities, I know.

Closest we've got!

Apologies for butting in, by the way. ^^;

Sure, you can call me Kuroshi.

It's funny, I wouldn't have expected that many of the Harry Potter readership to have gone emo, and to have fallen so deeply that they would compare Twilight to Harry Potter, when the difference in quality between those two series is worlds apart.

I wasn't sure if any Twilight fans were around, and I didn't want to run the risk of offending them.

Sorry about the confusion. I should have worded my screen shot question a little better. (thanks for the help on that, twitchytwitch) Giovanni is a character that is practically begging for a full-on scene with him facepalming.

[identity profile] nekusagi.livejournal.com 2008-07-28 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
he is.

Even though we all know he probably does A LOT of it offscreen.

No. As far as I know, there are no Twilight fans here, but then, I know the last thing you want is to be branded a menace AGAIN mistakenly.

Oh, and is it safe to assume your Kuroshi account is strictly business?

I'll explain why I ask this privately.

[identity profile] rocket-grunt.livejournal.com 2008-07-28 08:13 am (UTC)(link)
Yes.

I can imagine him facepalming very often, 'tis truly not easy being the Boss Rocket.

I guess you can consider Kuroshi strictly business if it makes things easier.

Yeah, I am not gunning to be on anymore wanted lists.

If my experience with cats means anything, I'm willing to guess 90% of that comes from strange Persian behavior.
