Post an EntrySo, was killing time thinking about Heroes/watching FLCL last week (really not a good idea to do those both at once, by the way) before the Homecoming game at Roncalli... OMG, I finally have a real origin story for Nekou. It's long, so bear with me here...
Basically, in Kanto there's this cult called Eden that was afraid all the knowledge in the world would disappear within the next few decades as as result of overreliance on technology, especially the Internet. So they decided they'd create Angels-basically test tube babies who'd been genetically engineered to have superior psychic abilities. As they grew up, the Angels would have knowledge of all the folklore and traditions of the world subliminally inserted into their mind, more or less making them walking, sentient reference materials. Nekou was one of these Angels, only her given name at the time was Azrael. Fifteen years into the project, the Eden leaders feared the Angels were getting too powerful for their own good. However, since knowledge of the Angels was sent to them from God (or so they believed), to kill the Angels would be blasphemy. Instead, their memories were wiped and the Angels were abandoned all over Kanto, in the hopes that God would provide for his Angels a good home and protection. Azrael was thrown in a dark alley in Viridian City, found by a Rocket agent, and the rest is history. Unfortunately, Nekou's story has a dark side to it- although Nekou was taken in because she looked like Sebastian's late sister, Sebastian later found she was one of the Angels while reading an article in a magazine about the project. Although it's true Nekou knows nothing of her past, she still knows quite a bit for an amnesiac (though she doesn't know how), and her more dangerous abilities come out in stressful situations. Now Nekou is under constant surveillance (unknowingly to her), and the moment her (unknown to her) powers completely manifest, she will be studied obsessively. So she constantly has a dark cloud hanging over her.
Thoughts on this? I'd like feedback- honest feedback, please.
