TV Tokyo today announced a planned spinoff of two highly popular anime series, Pocket Monsters and Rozen Maiden, tentatively titled Pocket Maidens.
The series revolves around the young Maiden Medium, Jun Sakurada, who wakes up one morning to a Maidball in his desk drawer and from there is thrust into a magical world of adventure and intrigue, the world of Pocket Maidens. The dolls of the original Rozen Maiden series will all be present, but main characters now keep them in balls to train and battle in the Alice League, headed by the enigmatic Professor Rozen, who is said to be the creator of the Pocket Maidens.
"We are very excited to work with a beloved series like Pocket Monsters," the mangaka duo Peach Pit said in a statement. "Pocket Maidens will be a fascinating alternate take on the original Rozen Maiden story we're sure the fans of both series will enjoy."
"This is a great, fresh new direction for Pocket Monsters," director Kunihiko Yuyama said. "We hope Pocket Maidens goes beyond just one season, and that new Maidens and Mediums are added every season for even more exciting adventures."
